On March 5, 2024, Capri Communities participated in the Discovery Healthcare Expo at Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC). Drawing over 650 students between 8th and 12th grades, the Expo provided a valuable platform for them to interact with a large variety of healthcare companies in the area and learn more about existing opportunities.
In total there were 40 exhibitor booths spread throughout the WCTC gymnasium that offered engaging, hands-on activities. Capri Communities had five of the booths, each shining a spotlight on a specific healthcare career within our company: Memory Care, Dietary, Lifestyle Enrichment, Housekeeping, and LPN. Each Capri booth was staffed by awesome individuals from across our organization. At the Memory Care booth, students had a firsthand experience with Dementia-Live®, led by Memory Care Managers Sarah from Grace Commons and Joan from The Gables of Germantown. Over at the Dietary booth our Director of Culinary Operations, Hugh, dazzled students with his cooking skills and showed them how to flip food in a pan like a pro. Ava, our Enjoy Life Coordinator, kept the energy high at the Lifestyle Enrichment booth with a competitive game of water cup pong, showing attendees that there is more to senior living than just crafts and bingo! The Housekeeping booth featured an interactive cheerio-sweeping activity where students learned about the importance of keeping spaces clean. Lastly, the LPN booth had students practicing nursing skills with an engaging activity that involved poking an orange to learn how to administer insulin.
The WCTC Discovery Healthcare Expo was a resounding success, with both professionals and students enjoying themselves and receiving a great overview of available healthcare opportunities. The interactive nature of the event generated interest in available careers and highlighted Capri’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals. Capri Communities was delighted to participate in the event, showcasing our diverse array of healthcare career opportunities and reaffirming our commitment to Waukesha County and its surrounding communities.
